Phase 1: Community Garden

  • Educational garden beds to serve regional students (preschool-college)

  • Community garden bed rentals (available to families and individuals through Durango Parks and Recreation)

  • Event space for public workshops and educational programming

  • Shared harvest garden beds available to the public

Activities that occurred earlier in the year included:

  • Fifth graders set up a monitoring system to track air and soil temperature fluctuations in the new grow dome to recommend winter crops.

  • Upper-level engineering and computer science classes from Durango High School worked on climate control challenges in the grow dome to make it more productive and simpler to manage.
